WGC Cadillac Match Play - Day 1
In lieu of simply re-posting the leaderboard from the round robin play, here is a list of the real winners and losers from the first day of the match play:
Winners
Jordan Spieth: The Masters' champion racked up six birdies in 16 holes en route to a drubbing of Mikki Ilonen.
Marc Leishman: Lesihman drew last week's winner in Justin Rose and beat him 3&2.
Gary Woodland: Woodland was 1 down heading to the 14th hole where he holed out his second shot from 127 yards. He eventually defeated Jimmy Walker on the 19th hole.
Losers
Ian Poulter: Poulter has not had much success in stroke play events in the United States but is widely known as an intimadting match-play opponent. Poulter lost to Webb Simpson 2&1.
Henrik Stenson: Stenson is the 3rd rank player in the world. He lost to John Senden - the 65th ranked player in the world.
Jason Day: The defending champion of this event got shelled by Charley Hoffman 4&3.
