LaVert Returns
Michigan basketball fans, on the heels of missing the NCAA tournament this year, were yearning for some good news. They got it on Tuesday after Caris LaVert announced his decision to return to the University of Michigan for his senior season. LaVert was projected as a borderline first-round draft pick had he declared for the NBA.
LaVert's junior season was derailed after suffering a foot fracture. LaVert injured his foot on January 17, 2015 following a win against Northwestern. Michigan went just 5-9 in LaVert's absence including a five-game losing streak in February.
LaVert's return means that Michigan will have two seniors in the back court with LaVert and Spike Albrecht. Derrick Walton, Zak Irvin, Ricky Doyle, Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, and Aubrey Dawkins will also rejoin the Wolverines. Michigan will head into the 2015-16 season with virtually every member of their team from 2014-15. The experience those players earned will be very valuable heading into next season.
Welcome back Caris.
