Woods Commits to Players

Tiger Woods will follow-up his Top-20 finish at The Masters with an appearance at The Players.  Woods has won the event twice in 2001 (Better than Most) and 2013.  His commitment at the event did not come as a surprise.  Had Woods been eligible to participate in the Cadillac Match-Play Championship at Hardy Park next week, he likely would have participated in that event as well.

Looking into the future, if Woods chooses to skip the Wells Fargo Championship (a tournament he has competed in and won in the past) then he almost will certainly play at the Memorial Tournament on June 4-7.  That would be followed by back-to-back major appearances at the US Open on June 18-21 and The Open Championship July 16-19.

With a shakeup in the schedule this year, expect Woods to then finish the year at his tournament, the Quick Loans National, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, and the PGA Championship.

That schedule would have Woods competing in 10 PGA Tour events in 2015 excluding any possible PGA Tour Playoff events in September.

UPDATE (4/29/2015 10:26 AM)

Tiger Woods announced on his website his upcoming schedule which includes:

  • The Memorial
  • US Open
  • The Greenbrier Classic
  • Open Championship
  • Quicken Loans
Woods addition of the Greenbrier is a small surprise since he hasn't played in the event in a couple of years.  Woods will also skip the "Texas Two Step" of the Byron Nelson and Colonial.
