The Madness Ends
Michigan's First Round matchup against Notre Dame truly was a tale of two halves. The Wolverines looked unstoppable in the first half. They were hitting from behind the arc, able to get the ball down low, and played aggressive defense.
In the second half, Michigan couldn't buy a bucket. Irvin was ice cold, Donnal and Doyle contributed virtually nothing offensively, and Notre Dame was able to close a 12 point deficit in about 7 minutes.
Michigan had a chance to tie the game on their final possession but settled for an off-balance 3-point attempt by Irvin that never had a chance. And like that, Michigan's 2015-16 season was over.
Few Michigan fans appreciate the idea of "moral victories." But this year saw the Wolverines lose 1/3 of their best players for most of the season. It was iffy of the team would even make the tournament this year. After not playing in a single postseason tournament last year, this year's team did show signs of improvement. Most of the core returns next year. If the incoming freshmen can make meaningful contributions, then Michigan should be back next year.
