The Arrival of St. Peters
After weeks of frustration from Michigan fans, the prayers were finally answered. OK so the religious comparisons are over the top, but seeing Brandon Peters under center was a welcome sight to the Michigan faithful. And while the opponent was a horrible Rutgers team, Peters appeared to be far more competent than John O’Korn.
Peters was able to escape pressure, make passes on the run, find open receivers, and put the right amount of touch on the ball. The running game looked sharp and the offensive line played their best game of the year. And yes, they were only playing Rutgers.
Defensively, Michigan played solid but continues to get tripped up on running plays, particularly direct snaps to the running back. The Barkley wildcat package PSU put into play a couple of weeks ago is a wrinkle that was borrowed by Rutgers and you can expect will be borrrowed by Minnesota next week.
