18 Holes To Go

The 2014 Open Championship has turned into the "Rory Show" through 54 holes.  McIlroy's 66-66-68 through three rounds of play has earned him a six-shot lead heading into the final round.  Rory will look to complete the third leg of the career grand slam on Sunday afternoon in Liverpool.

McIlroy will be joined by American Rickie Fowler.  On the 14th hole Saturday, Fowler stood on the 14th tee tied for the lead with McIlroy.  But a few bogeys from Fowler, coupled with eagles on 16 and 18 by McIlroy built a six-shot cushion for the Northern Irishman.

Rory has looked to be in complete control of his game all week.  Entering the second round, the narrative surrounding McIlroy was whether he could get past Friday without posting a high number as he had done in previous outings.  McIlroy silenced the critics by posting a second consecutive 66.

If Rory goes onto win, he will undoubtedly be the favorite heading into the season ending PGA Championship, and as Mike Tirico and Paul Azinger discussed on the ESPN telecast, Rory will headline the Master's every April to see if he can complete the career grand slam.
